I have a lot of catching up to do since I have been so busy so for now I will just leave you with this post of beautiful, beautiful tulips.  My very favorite flower!!!!  My other tulip post is pretty popular so I figure no one will mind.  Enjoy!!!

*Blessed*

No one is more blessed than I am.  I know this for a fact.* Now that may seem impossible to you and I can see where you are coming from, but allow me to explain.   :)

It is true because I believe it is true.  You feel me?  I am choosing to acknowledge my blessed-ness and let it flow through every cell of my being.

This is not a competition.  I am not trying to compare myself to you.  I am not trying to say that I am MORE blessed than you.  In fact, I would never want you to think that!  I actually hope that you believe what I believe for yourself.  That no one is more blessed than you!

That being said, I will add that straight from my heart I do feel so fortunate and so grateful for everything that I have.  There really aren’t words for all of the people, experiences, moments, realizations, lessons, feelings, LOVE and everything else that I have to be thankful for.  It is truly something that can only be felt by my limitless flowing energetic self as it is so far beyond any possible utterance from the mouth.

Am I saying that my life is always rainbows, sunshine and butterflies?  That nothing difficult ever comes my way?  That I always have a smile on my face?  Not at all!  I am here on this planet right now having a human experience just like everyone else.  ;)   But I get to choose what I do with everything that comes my way.  And although I don’t get it right every time, overall I choose to be blessed.  And therefore I am blessed.

Okay so back to this belief thing.  Honestly, I could write multiple blogs about the idea itself but for today I will try to keep it simple and relevant to this post.  If I choose to believe that I am blessed then I will feel blessed.  Makes sense, right?  And if I feel blessed then being blessed will become a part of my reality, true?  And the more it becomes a part of my reality, the easier it will be for me to continuously choose to be blessed because it will already be flowing inside of me!  It’s a circle, see?

Are you blessed?  Well I guess it is up to you, isn’t it?  And really, we are all blessed.  We just have to decide whether or not we want to accept it, be it and let it flow.

Do you want to learn how to be blessed?  If so, then repeat (and affirm) after me: “I am blessed.  So very blessed.”

* I know, I know; I said I don’t really believe in these (facts).  And….I don’t (for the most part).  What I mean is that it is a fact to me.  And those are mostly the kind of facts that I do believe in.  The ones that are a part of my reality.  They are facts to me because I believe them.  See?   :)

Write it Out……Affirmations!!!!

Okay, whether you are a first-timer or this is just a reminder, it is all good!  Because although I am far from the former, I quite often forget about these little gems and could use a good reminder myself!  In fact, my own recent remembering (again) is what inspired me to make this post.  So here goes!

Definition according to me:  An affirmation is a sentence that we stick into our brain.

Ouch!  That sounds painful!  Well, I can certainly understand your concern, but I assure you that it doesn’t hurt a bit.  And not only is it surgery and pain-free, it is actually super-easy, really fast, and very beneficial!

You see, part of our brain records thoughts; both thoughts from us and thoughts from others that we accept as our own.  Once added to our brain-database, these thoughts then play for us over and over again and they become beliefs.  In turn, these beliefs then affect our behavior.  Yikes!

You could have been told in elementary school by some kid that “you can’t be part of our group.”  And you may have accepted this and recorded the thought of “I can’t be part of the group.”  And you may be all grown up now and wondering why you shy away from working in groups!  Well, this thought may still be playing around inside of you and causing you to feel uncomfortable working in groups!  Double yikes!

Now that we have this understanding of how thoughts get into our brains and affect our behavior and ultimately our lives, let us re-visit the affirmation definition from above:  a sentence that we stick into our brain.

See what I am getting at?  Let’s intentionally put thoughts into our brain that will help us!!!

Okay, so how do we do this?  So easy!  Literally write it out.  As in, pen and paper.  And while I am writing it, I say it out loud to myself and make sure that I feel it.  That’s it!

Here are some examples of affirmations to get you started:

  • I am healthy
  • I have everything I need
  • My life is perfect
  • The world that I live in is safe
  • Today is a great day
  • I create abundance all around me

If you wanted to counteract the negative thought from the example above, you could use:

  • I am part of the group
  • It is safe to be part of the group
  • I am accepted by everyone
  • My contributions are worthy

Those are just a few examples, but your affirmations can literally be around anything!  Just take a look at your life and what you want to create!

Additional tips:

  • Keep them simple and straightforward.  “I have the most amazing job that makes me happy every second of every day” can easily be shortened to “My job is amazing” and/or “I am always happy at my job.”  Simple = easy for the brain to understand.   :)
  • Talk in the present. Word it as if you already have it.  If you say “I will have…” then your playback will always be talking about the future.  Drop the “will” and say “I have.”  This sends the message that you can have it right now.
  • Always use positive words.  The brain does not understand words like don’t, won’t, can’t, not, etc., meaning that if you write out the affirmation, “I am not sad,” then the “not” is going to be ignored and you will be left with “I am sad.”  Obviously you don’t want this.   Also, rather than using a negative word like “sad,” why not write out “I am happy” instead?  This puts a positive in your head rather than a negative.   :)
  • Write out/say your affirmations first thing in the morning and/or before bed.  The good thing about morning is that it sets the tone for a good day!  Before bed is also good because it goes right in for processing while you sleep.  I think both are great.  If you only have time for one then that’s okay too.  Do what works for you.  You will see benefit either way.   :)

I started writing and saying affirmations a few years ago.  They have helped me to re-program some pretty big stuff.  From time to time I forget about them.  But they always come back to me in times of need.   :)

I would love to hear about everyone else’s experiences with affirmations or thoughts about them.  Or if you are a first timer and decide to try them out, please share how it goes and what you notice!  Questions or concerns are also welcome, as always.   :)

Beautiful, bountiful blessings to all of you amazing, deserving beings!

Surrender

We think we are giving in

But who is really being taken from?

We think we are letting them win

But who is really losing?

We think resisting will cause them pain

But who are we really hurting?

By fighting, we are only building walls; walls of cement around our own precious hearts

Give up the fight.  Surrender….

Surrender….

Oh, how it feels so good to…..finally…..surrender

Such a big weight has been lifted as I completely let go

I no longer have to deprive myself…

I no longer have to miss out….

I no longer have to suffer…..

By giving up the fight…..and surrendering

I surrender….and move on….into the light

I feel so free

I am unstoppable

I am love

I surrender

Dear Human…..

Dear human,

So flawed, so imperfect

So dark, so scarred; what if they knew…….

So afraid; so very, very afraid

So ugly, so rejected, so abnormal

So weighted down by all of the accumulations that you carry; they started before you were even birthed

Oh human, did you ever even have a chance?

And yet,

You are still so amazing and so beautiful

And in your imperfection you are still so perfect

You are so full of love and able to shine so bright in your moment

And when you laugh the world wants to sing

And when you let go of your fear there is nothing you cannot do

It will not be this hard forever.  As the light becomes brighter and brighter the darkness will start to fade……

Release

We all must do our part

Until then and forever,

I love you human.  With all of my heart.

Always, ALWAYS Follow Your HEART!!!!

Follow your heart.  Just do it!  Your heart knows what is true.

Don’t let the part of your brain that loves to fill your mind with doubts stop you from running toward your heart’s desire!!!

You are so beautiful and so deserving of the wonderful life that your heart wants to have.  You REALLY, truly are!  I promise!  But you really shouldn’t take it from me, you should take it from your OWN heart!  Your heart knows that this is true, it is just that sometimes the brain gets in the way and tells you things that just aren’t true.  But YOU get to decide if you believe them!  Next time your brain tells you that you don’t deserve what your heart wants, you just tell your brain that it is wrong and go ahead and take a step towards following your heart.

Your heart is so amazing and so perfect!  Just follow it!

It is okay if you are scared to follow your heart.  In time, you will see that it was a good decision as the results you truly desire unfold!!!  This will then give you more confidence to follow your heart in the future!

Follow your heart TODAY!  There is no sense in waiting till the “right moment” to follow your heart.  That moment may never come.  The right moment is now!  Just do it!!!!

It is never too late to follow your heart!  I am going to say that again; IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO FOLLOW YOUR HEART!!!!!  You still deserve it now, today!  No regrets!  If you start to regret not following your heart sooner then just push it aside!  This life is YOUR journey and YOU decided to follow your heart today and not yesterday.  That means YOU are in control of your life!  So it is okay!  You did it the way that was yours for this lifetime!  Yesterday cannot be changed anyway and regret does NO good.  However, today is yours to do whatever you want with!!!

Do not listen to other people who advise you not to follow your own heart.  They are not inside of you and they don’t know YOUR heart!  Whether their intentions are good or not, YOU are the only one who TRULY knows what YOUR HEART wants!!!

What if what your heart wants does not conform to society’s norms?  DO IT ANYWAY!!!!!  It will make YOU happy!  What could be better than that?!

You don’t know what your heart wants, you say?  Take a little bit of time to get quiet.  Sit by yourself for a while or meditate.  Do whatever works for you.  Getting in touch with your heart can often require taking a step out of the craziness of life for a bit.  Just do it!  You deserve it!  If you want the answers, they will come.  :)

It is all within YOU, right there in your heart.

Please follow your heart today.  You can do it!!!  I know you can!  You are so fantastic and you really, truly can do anything that you want to!!!

Raw Dinner, Cooked Dinner….Dinner with Tanni!!!

Okay, so like I have mentioned before, I eat a lot of raw food!  I mostly snack on raw fruits, veggies and smoothies all day long!  Yummy!!!!  Like I said, I eat a LOT of raw food, but I am not 100%.  When dinner time comes around, sometimes I go the raw route and sometimes I take the road of cooked!  Either way, I try to eat yummy, healthy and easy to make foods for dinner!

Alright, Tanni.  That’s nice!  But what exactly do you eat for dinner?  Well the answer is that I eat a lot of different things!  However, here are a couple of dinners that I have made recently.  One raw dinner and one cooked dinner!

Raw dinner:  Zucchini Alfredo Pasta!!!!!

Aww….two plates!  One of those must belong to my lover!  He LOVES this stuff!  Good boy!  :)

Here is another shot.  A little bit more of a close-up!

Yummy!!!!  This stuff is SO good!

So yeah, this is my RAW dinner!  No cooking going on here!  If you are not familiar with un-cooked “pasta” dishes, I strongly recommend you give them a go!  They are really easy to make, RAW, and absolutely delicious!

When I make food, I tend to do it a little bit different each time.  I don’t really measure stuff much, I just sort of throw together what feels right that day, lol.  The noodles are just zucchini!  I don’t have one of those fancy spiralizers so I just use a potato peeler to make my noodles.  The sauce….umm…..trying to remember what was in the sauce!  Ha ha!  The base is soaked sunflower seeds.  Other ingredients: lemon juice, olive oil, FRESH BASIL, lots of garlic, probably some other seasonings, most likely some salt and pepper, probably a little zucchini itself to thicken…….like I said, I am still making adjustments to this one!  But if you want to make this and have any questions, just let me know and I can probably come up with some more specifics!

Cooked dinner:  Oven Roasted Eggplant and Sautéed Veggies!!!

Yes, that is eggplant, not steak!!!  Lol, someone told me the picture looked like steak!

Close-up:

Oh my goodness!  This is SO good!  I got the idea to cook the eggplant this way from here:  http://www.finecooking.com/recipes/oven_roasted_eggplant.aspx  You can add whatever seasonings you like to the eggplant, either fresh herbs or dried will work.  My personal preference is rosemary for this recipe.  Yum!!!!  I usually serve the eggplant with a side of pasta/marinara sauce for dipping.  It is REALLY easy to make, but you do have to remember to get it started about 2 hours before you want to devour it!

As far as the veggies go, all you have to do is pick your favorite vegetables for sauteing, chop them up and throw them in a pan with some pre-heated olive oil and your favorite seasonings!  So easy and SO good!  This time for veggies I used mushrooms, tomatoes and yellow bell peppers.  Some of my other favorites include zucchini, summer squash, asparagus, broccoli, and other colored peppers.  Also, I always use olive oil when I am cooking savory dishes.  Not only do I believe it to be one of the healthiest oils out there, it is also the best TASTING.  Oh, my!

Well, there you have it!  A day in the life of dinner with Tanni.  Or two days, rather!

I hope you are all having a most exquisite day full of sunshine, laughter and yummy, healthy love-food!

Watermelon Fast!!!

Hello there beautiful people of the universe!!!

Okay, so it was about 2 and a half weeks ago and I am just now getting to writing about it; however, I think that this is a good thing because then I can give an update about how I am doing this far afterwards!!!!

So I did a watermelon “fast.”  My very first one! So what exactly does that mean???  Well I ate nothing but watermelon for about 2.5 days!!!  It was great and I am going to tell you all about it.  :)

Here are the watermelons that I consumed:

3 beautiful and super-delicious melons!

I always make sure to buy the seeded ones:

Oh yeah, check out those lovely seeds!  Why do I prefer the seeded ones you ask?  Well, aside from the fact that it is super-fun to spit out all of those seeds……ha ha!  Okay on a more serious note, in my opinion, it just isn’t natural to breed melons, or anything for that matter to not have seeds!  Seeds are life-creators!  They are part of how nature is supposed to survive!  Not only that, but the seeded watermelons have about ten times more flavor than the seedless ones.  They seriously do!

Okay so how about the “why?”  Why did I do this fast?  Well the main reason is that I was really feeling like my body could use a good cleaning.  Fasting can be quite the controversial subject.  Some people say it is a great way to clean out, others argue that it is completely unnecessary while some categorize it as a dangerous thing to do.  I always try to follow my heart and my intuition and for me, this fast seemed like a great idea.

How does fasting “clean out” your system?  For starters, the body is often “clogged up” for a variety of reasons.  Poor food choices, bad food combining, and emotional turmoil are just a few reasons why we often become this way.  When one chooses to go on a fast, they are making it really easy for the body to “clean house” because they are either only consuming one type of food or else a combination of foods that are really easy to digest.  This helps the body to kind of push through all of that build up that has accumulated over time.  Pretty cool!

Why did I choose watermelon for my fast?  Well, come on!  It is delicious!  Just look:

Okay, okay, I’ll get serious again!  ;)   Watermelon, aside from being magically delicious love-food, is one of the fastest digesting foods on the planet.  This is why it is recommended to always eat it alone.  I mean, seriously, go try eating a bunch of heavy food and then having a bowl of watermelon when you are done!  You are probably going to have some serious digestive problems!  This is because the watermelon wants to get through right away but it gets “stuck” behind the other stuff that takes a lot longer to digest!  So I say, because of the fast-digestion-action nature of the watermelon, it is the perfect food for fasting!

Don’t get me wrong, other people have success fasting on all sorts of different fruits, veggies, smoothies and juices.  Some people even fast on water alone!  Do whatever works for your body if you do decide to fast and of course, BE CAREFUL!!!!  I have been “doctoring” my own body for quite some time now so I feel pretty good about my ability to tell if something is going awry.  If you are a first-time faster, you may want to do it with experienced supervision!  The reason for this is that when we are cleaning out the body this way, the process could jump-start your body to do a clean-up a little too quickly.  This could result in your body being flooded with too many toxins all at once that are trying to get out!  As a result, you could get kind of sick!  So again, make sure you know what you are doing when you choose to fast!

Alright, alright.  That was a lot of information!  Well in case you are wondering, I will now share my personal fasting experience!  I chose to do it over the weekend as it is kind of hard (at least for me) to fast on watermelon while working.  The reasons being that I had to eat constantly and also I was in the bathroom peeing a lot!  So yeah, I mostly stayed home this weekend!

To ease into the fast, I consumed only fruit the day before.  I figured that this would make it easier for my system to start pushing on the day of the fast and would minimize any discomfort I might experience.  The day I started eating watermelon I did great all morning.  By the afternoon I started feeling a little bit of pain in my stomach and I figured that this meant there was some “stuff” in me that was still getting in the way of the melon!  The pain didn’t last long and then it all came through if ya know what I mean!  :)   After that it was smooth sailing the whole rest of the time.  I was going to the bathroom regularly, and overall I just felt really light and super happy!!!!  In fact, I really didn’t want to stop as soon as I did but it would have been hard for me to continue at work.  So I started day 3 with watermelon in the morning.  I had a couple of bowls and then it was time to “break my fast.”

When breaking a fast, I believe that it is important to start off with something light.  You don’t want to go from eating nothing but watermelon for days to eating some really heavy foods!  This might shock your body a bit!  So I started with fruits.  I officially broke my fast with grapes.  Then I had some cherries and then some plums.  After the fruit, I went ahead and had a salad for “dinner.”  All was well!

I have been feeling so good ever since that I haven’t really eaten much other than fruits and veggies!  Not that eating lots of fruits and veggies is at all uncommon for me, but I usually eat some nuts, seeds, beans and rice as well.  I have been kind of taking a break from these things as I am really enjoying the extra light feeling that I have been experiencing!  I plan to add these foods back in gradually as I see fit, however, for now I am really happy with my results!

Hurrah for watermelon fasting!  Here is one more picture to make you drool:

I hope you are having a splendid day and I would love to hear about your fasting experiences if you have any to share!!!

Let Go….

Let it go….

You don’t need it anymore

Release it…out into the atmosphere…..

It serves you no purpose

Undo your grasp……

You are all that you need

Liberate your mind, your body, your soul…

It shall not have any more power over you

Stop holding on…..

It is not part of you any longer!

Free yourself…..

You are so beautiful all on your own!

Spread your wings, the world and life are both yours to enjoy…..

Light as a feather you are; you, just you

Let go……

Just let it go……..
